Overview of the Online DBA Data Analytics Specialization

Accelerate your career as a data analyst and consultant.

There is a growing demand for data analysts who possess advanced problem-solving and consulting skills. IWU’s DBA program is specifically crafted to empower students to showcase their mastery of advanced, doctoral-level data analysis skills by building upon the knowledge and expertise they acquired at the master’s level.  This degree is an excellent fit for aspiring data practitioners.

While pursuing this doctorate, students can expect to develop confidence in problem-based learning, writing, and communication skills. Students will write a scholar-practitioner paper suitable for journal submission. Additionally, students will complete an applied doctoral project, an evidence-based consulting report that solves complex, real-world problems rather than a dissertation and leads to success through a mentor, who will guide you to success from start to finish of the program.

Throughout the program, students will learn to integrate forward-thinking virtuous leadership into the global team-based business practice. Students will create ethical change management solutions and strategies for complex business problems. They will also synthesize advanced research in education, consulting, or business leadership. As a result, students will create new knowledge for application in the global workplace and integrate a virtuous worldview into both their personal and professional lives.

Classes take between 15-20 hours per week with an online cohort learning format. One annual 3-day residency, Thursday thru Saturday, is required.

When finished with this terminal degree, you will have completed the highest level of education in data analytics and be considered “doctor” among your colleagues. At the end of the program, students can look forward to a profitable career in business education, consulting, or business leadership.

Accreditation

Indiana Wesleyan University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission (HLC), www.hlcommission.org, 312-263-0456. Other accreditations and associations of Indiana Wesleyan University are available at www.indwes.edu/about/iwu-profile/accreditation.

After the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program was launched by the DeVoe School of Business, Technology & Leadership in the fall of 2019, it was recognized and accredited by The Higher Learning Commission (HLC).

After ensuring that HLC accreditation was in place, plans were developed for the DBA program to pursue initial accreditation by the Accreditation Council of Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). ACBSP requires all programs to be in existence for two years, have graduates, and ensure that operational, academic, assessment, and other continuous quality processes are in place before making application to start the official self-study process.

In light of these expectations from ACBSP, the academic leadership in the College of Adult and Professional Studies supports the ongoing planning and implementation of important academic and program continuous quality improvement processes to ensure readiness to apply for ACBSP accreditation. The pursuit of ACBSP accreditation was and continues to be on the planning roadmap for the program. Current students and program alumni please note that if a student graduates prior to DeVoe School of Business, Technology & Leadership receiving ACBSP accreditation for the DBA program, the student will be grandfathered in under the accredited program once accreditation is received.

If you have questions about the status of ACBSP accreditation efforts for the DBA program, please contact DBusAdmin@indwes.edu
