Overview of the Online Aviation Operations Program

Combine the adventure of aviation with on-the-ground technology and communication for a high-demand, non-pilot career.

Work in a satisfying, well-compensated job in aviation without ever taking the skies. IWU’s Associate of Science in Aviation Operations provides the certification and education to build a successful career in the high labor demand market of aviation through online and hands-on training. The program supports growth in required technology education with opportunities to practice excellent verbal and written communication skills.

This degree program provides an FAA Dispatcher Certification, opening the door to a job in the aerospace industry. This non-pilot program qualifies for several career opportunities in flight planning and dispatching airline flights. Students can work full-time throughout the program except during a 1–2-week residency for certification. While pursuing a degree through IWU students get:

  • Weekly synchronous lessons with faculty members who hold appropriate FAA certifications and have industry experience
  • An FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certification
  • Preparation to begin or advance an aviation career
