Few undergraduate schools have a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) major, but Indiana Wesleyan University has one that is thriving! Our major provides instruction in both the theory and skills of teaching second-language acquisition, equipping students to change the world in a tangible way. Worldwide, teachers of English are in high demand, so this is a major that is both practical and fulfilling.
The rigorous curriculum for the Bachelor of Arts TESOL program includes courses in linguistics, language acquisition, TESL/TEFL theory, assessment practices, and cultural awareness and experience. Graduates are equipped to teach English to speakers of other languages around the world. Students are mentored by experienced faculty who care about them personally and demonstrate the integration of a Christian worldview in their vocation of teaching, demonstrating that life and work can be a way to authentically worship God and serve humankind.
Students may also choose to minor in TESOL as a supplement to another IWU major.
If you have a heart and desire to teach the English language to non-native speakers and impact the world for Christ, we encourage you to consider the TESOL program at Indiana Wesleyan University.
