Awards keep rolling in for IWU Student TV Producers from 2011-12, none more prestigious than the Bronze Telly Award recently given to Media Com graduates Russ Clark, Matt Green and Bill Rehr for a Motocross feature story airing on WIWU-TV.
The video piece aired on the station's Crossroads newsmagazine in Fall 2011 and featured the fun of motocross racing in nearby Wabash, Indiana. The producer used a variety of techniques to take the viewer up-close and personal, including a portable camera mounted on individual riders.
Clark (December, 2011) moved to Los Angeles in early 2012 and is working in various production roles for reality-TV company Bunim-Murray Productions. Green (December, 2011) is a Production Assistant at Guardian Studios in Columbus, Ohio, and Rehr (April, 2012) will move to Honolulu, Hawaii this summer to pursue other production opportunities.
The video feature also received first-place honors in Videography from the Indiana Association of School Broadcasters. The Telly's are one of the nation's premier awards honoring local and regional television production. Over 11,000 entries are submitted nationwide, with judging by a panel of previous Telly winners within the media industries. Approximately 25% of all entries received the Bronze award.
