IWU offers an online Transition to Teaching – Special Education program for initial licensure and a Special Education Teaching Graduate Certificate for currently licensed teachers seeking an additional license in special education.
Transition to Teaching (TTT) - Special Education
Candidates gain skills and knowledge to create developmentally appropriate instructional lesson and behavior plans and support the healthy development of students with exceptionalities and their families. This program contains all the course requirements needed to become a licensed P-12 special education teacher in Indiana.
Special Education Teaching Graduate Certificate (Indiana Licensure)
Candidates gain content knowledge related to professional teaching standards for P-12 learners with exceptionalities and their families. Upon successful completion of all coursework and the state-required licensure examinations, candidates can be recommended for a P-12 Exceptional Needs - Mild Intervention additional teaching license in the state of Indiana.
