Indiana Wesleyan University will host U.S. Representative Susan Brooks on their Marion, Indiana residential campus next week on Tuesday, March 26th.
Rep. Brooks is the newly elected congresswoman for Indiana's fifth district, which includes Marion, Indiana. She will present a gift to the Indiana Wesleyan University Lady Wildcats and their head coach, Steve Brooks, who won the NAIA Division II national title in Sioux City, Iowa last week. That event will take place at 3:15 p.m. in the Commons of the Barnes Student Center.
The congresswoman will also appear at a Student Forum in the Century Room of the Barnes Student Center at 3:30 p.m. to answer questions from the IWU campus community.
Formerly the deputy mayor of Indianapolis, a U.S. attorney under President George W. Bush and the senior vice president for workforce and economic development at Ivy Tech Community College, Representative Brooks is the first Republican woman to represent Indiana since Representative Cecil M. Harden in the 1950s, along with fellow freshman congresswoman Jackie Walorski of Indiana's second district. A Fort Wayne native, Representative Brooks is a graduate of Miami University of Ohio and Indiana University Indianapolis School of Law.
