What is S.E.T.?
The goal of Student Employment Training (S.E.T) is to offer formalized professional development to our Indiana Wesleyan University residential students. Our once a month workshops will focus on "Career Readiness" competencies from the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE). Students will be able to gain experience and knowledge from participating in and attending the S.E.T. Workshops.
Are You Career Ready?
Career Readiness is a foundation from which to demonstrate requisite core competencies that broadly prepare the college educated for success in the workplace and lifelong career management.
For new college graduates, career readiness is key to ensuring successful entrance into the workforce. Career readiness is the foundation upon which a successful career is launched. Career readiness is, quite simply, the new career currency.
For higher education, career readiness provides a framework for addressing career-related goals and outcomes of curricular and extracurricular activities, regardless of the student’s field of study. For employers, career readiness plays an important role in sourcing talent, providing a means of identifying key skills and abilities across all job functions; similarly, career readiness offers employers a framework for developing talent through internship and other experiential education programs.
There are a total of eight Career Readiness Competencies identified by NACE. For the purpose of students at Indiana Wesleyan University, four additional competencies have been added to the list. Scroll through the list below to learn about each competency.

Student Employment Training on Teamwork & Collaboration
The "I Love My Job" Campaign
The purpose of the "I love my JOB" campaign is three fold: (1) To increase a positive mindset of our campus jobs and working at IWU. (2) To drive awareness of our social media platforms, thus, increasing recognition of jobs and internships for student's benefit. (3) To increase retention of students... students are more likely to remain connected to IWU if they have a job where they feel appreciated and maintain a sense of belonging.
The Life Calling and Career team will SURPRISE a student or a group of students at their campus job location. Rewarding them with an "I love my JOB" mug full of candy, we grab a picture of the student with some of the "I love my JOB" signage and "I love my JOB" button and ask them a few questions (i.e. why do you love your IWU job?). We then post their picture to our social media, tagging the student, their campus job, and the university social media.
We have a total of 123 unique campus jobs that have anywhere from 1 - 60 student employees. We would love to see this idea transform our student body but also envision seeing our IWU faculty and staff embrace the "I love my JOB" movement.

Colossians 3:23-24
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."
