Indiana Wesleyan University promotes and supports undergraduate research and creative projects as high impact educational practices that challenge students to become active stakeholders in their learning. In this regard, IWU sets aside a day without classes each spring for a Celebration of Scholarship. This campus-wide undergraduate research conference showcases the scholarly work of IWU-Marion students through oral presentation sessions and research poster displays. This annual tradition highlights the rigorous, creative work that IWU student researchers are pursuing, inspires students to get involved in primary research and creative projects, and gives the campus community opportunities to learn more about how various academic disciplines help us to make compelling sense of God’s world.
In addition to student presentations, the Celebration of Scholarship Luncheon features a keynote address from the recipient of the Aldersgate Prize. This annual book award celebrates the outstanding achievement of an author whose scholarship enriches Christian conceptions of human flourishing by yielding broad and integrative analyses of life’s complexities and ultimate questions (https://www.indwes.edu/academics/jwhc/aldersgate-prize).
IWU’s Celebration of Scholarship is sponsored by its John Wesley Honors College.
