The School of Health Sciences at Indiana Wesleyan University is pleased to announce the addition of a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, physical therapy jobs in the U.S. are expected to increase 22% through 2028, so there is a high demand for physical therapists with developed clinical skills. IWU’s nine-trimester (three-year) DPT program will prepare students for the growing and dynamic PT field and equip them to effect change in healthy outcomes for individuals and communities.
“Our DPT program will prepare the student to practice physical therapy in a rapidly growing and changing healthcare arena through early-integrated clinical experiences, faculty mentorship and comprehensive coursework,” Rosanne Thomas, Ph.D., program director for the School of Health Sciences, said.
Through this unique program, students will engage in 34 weeks of full-time clinical experience and courses ranging from movement sciences and therapeutic skills to clinical management.
“The curriculum, activities, and clinical experiences are strategically designed to facilitate student development into a meaningful life calling,” Thomas said.
Individuals interested in learning more about the program can attend a virtual open house on Aug. 13. Program applications opened on June 15.
