    Graduation is a high point in the experience of Indiana Wesleyan University students, their families, and their friends. People will gather from far and wide to celebrate as thousands of IWU graduates receive their diplomas. Commencement is a time to recognize the academic achievement and commitment of each student who is completing his or her college journey. The beautiful new Chapel-Auditorium on the traditional campus in Marion, Indiana, provides the setting for IWU graduation.

    There will be two Commencement ceremonies this August:

    • 10:00 a.m. – College of Arts and Sciences Associate and Bachelor Degrees; School of Nursing Pre-Licensure Nursing Program; College of Adult and Professional Studies Associate and Bachelor Degrees (except RNBSN Adult Program Degree)
    • 2:00 p.m. – College of Adult and Professional Studies Bachelor of Science Nursing Degrees and all Master and Doctoral Degrees

    Graduation honors are given to baccalaureate students at Commencement to acknowledge outstanding grade point averages (GPA) earned:

    • GPA of 3.5 or higher – “cum laude” (with honors)
    • GPA of 3.7 or higher – “magna cum laude” (with high honors)
    • GPA of 3.9 or higher – “summa cum laude” (with highest honors)

    Students who qualify for honors will receive honor cords, be noted in the commencement program, and be recognized during the ceremony.

    Tickets and Seating

    No tickets are required for the August ceremonies.

    Unlimited overflow theater-style seating with closed-circuit television is available in the Auditorium of the Phillippe Performing Arts Center (no tickets required). If you or anyone in your party requires special seating, please know that our buildings are accessible with ample provision for wheelchairs.
