License Renewal Information
The Indiana Department of Education's Office of Educator Licensing and Development (OELD) utilizes the Licensing Verification and Information System (LVIS) for all license processes, including initial licensure, additional licensure, renewals, professionalizing of licenses, as well as emergency permits and other licensure requests. Indiana Wesleyan University assisted the OELD with BETTA testing on this system and is familiar with its many processing possibilities.
LVIS has many advantages over past license processing methods, including the following:
- Speed (LVIS allows a license process to be completed in as fast as 2 business days from the point of application, versusup to 6 weeks with some older methods).
- Environmental Benefit (LVIS allows for documents to be uploaded and attached to online applications, ending the need for paper items to be sent via U.S. mail).
- Convenience (at the point that your license process is complete, you will receive notification from the OELD informing you that you can "view/print" your new license, providing you a convenient means to print licenses as often as needed).
In order to prepare yourself for your license process, please view the information and retain it for future reference. If you have questions or experience difficulties with uploading the instructions, contact the licensing adviser at educatorlicensing@indwes.edu.
NOTE: The state will not allow a person to apply for the renewal of his or her teaching license until at least 60 days prior to the license expiration date.
Beginning July 1, 2012, applicants applying for ANY license action (including renewal and professionalization) will be required to show proof of current active CPR/Heimlich Maneuver/AED certification at the time of application. For more information, please visit the DOE website at http://www.doe.in.gov/student-services/licensing/cpr-heimlich-maneuver-aed-certification.
Thank you for selecting Indiana Wesleyan University to help further your professional development as an educator.
