With this experiential program, you will spend the second half of your education in a church residency in your community. What You Will Study in This Bachelor’s to Master’s of Practical Theology

Coursework for this MPTh program covers how to:

  • Apply best practices for constructing and delivering scripture-centered sermons, homilies, and devotionals
  • Develop an understanding of spiritual formation through communal and individual Christian practices
  • Explore the principles and practices of faithful and effective Christian education programs in a cultural context
  • Engage in responsible use of faith-based and spiritual resources as well as articulate the benefits and limitations of counseling in a pastoral setting

Program Requirements
  • Required Undergraduate GPA: 3.0
  • Graduate of an Undergraduate Ministerial Program.
  • Required ministerial competencies:
    • Bible (6 hours of undergraduate coursework)
    • Theology and Philosophy (6 hours of undergraduate coursework)
  • Completion of 124 semester hours; however, some majors may result in the student earning greater than 124 credit hours by graduation.
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Completion of the designated semester hours in the major area with a GPA of 2.25 or higher as required by the major. Additional requirements as prescribed by each department must also be met.
  • Completion of all general education requirements
