Overview of the Online Certificate in General Studies
Build the foundation of your career path.
You’re ready to take the next step toward earning a college degree – but you’re not sure what program is for you. At IWU, you don’t have to wait until you have everything figured out to start pursuing your goals. The Undergraduate Certificate in General Studies enables you to build upon your life experiences to broaden your knowledge and prepare yourself to fulfill your academic dreams.
Students who complete this certificate will earn a block of general education credit hours in the specific content areas of English, math, fine arts, psychology, and speech communication. Our program provides:
- Flexible course structure
- Generous credit transfer opportunities
- Accelerated learning format
The General Studies Certificate is available to students currently in associate and bachelor programs, as well as to students who are registered as unclassified. Degree-seeking students must earn at least nine of the 15 certificate credit hours at IWU. Unclassified students must complete all 15 credit hours through IWU to be eligible for the certificate. This program is a logical precursor to IWU’s associate and bachelor’s degrees in integrative studies, which allow students to create their own study paths based on career goals, unique passions, and life callings.
