Ready to turn a passion for vehicles into a real career? The Associate of Science in Automotive Technology at Indiana Wesleyan University pairs hands-on dealership training with classroom knowledge so you build skills that matter from day one. You'll work alongside ASE-certified mentors at real automotive workplaces while earning your degree, making every credit hour count toward a future in the industry.
IWU's Automotive Technology program isn't just a degree; it's an apprenticeship. You'll train at a licensed automotive dealership or repair facility while earning college credit, meaning you graduate with both a credential and real-world experience. The curriculum is built around the nationally recognized Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) standards, so what you learn directly prepares you for ASE certification testing in nine specialized areas. You'll be ready to walk into any service bay with confidence.
From engine diagnostics to electrical systems to HVAC, you'll gain working knowledge across the full range of modern vehicle systems. The program follows ASE A1–A9 standards and covers everything from brake service and suspension to automatic transmissions and engine performance. Along the way, you'll also build communication skills, professional habits, and the ethical foundation needed to serve customers with honesty and care.
