Overview

The Graduate Physics Certificate is an 18-hour program designed for those seeking the subject matter expertise credentials required by many regional accrediting bodies. Students will be qualified to teach advanced placement, concurrent early college, and undergraduate college Physics courses at an introductory level. This certificate provides broad understanding of the field of Physics while strengthening scientific communication and analysis. Designed to be instructed in a Christian environment, the courses incorporate a pedagogical approach designed to nurture Christian faith and understanding.

Prerequisites: a bachelor’s degree with a Physics major or must be state certified (in any state) to teach Physics at a secondary school level. Undergraduate coursework must include calculus (through multivariate) and ordinary differential equations.

Your tuition rate will remain the same as long as you remain continuously enrolled in the same program. REQUIREMENTS

  • A baccalaureate or graduate degree from a college or university that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) verified on original transcripts sent by the institution directly to Indiana Wesleyan University.
  • A bachelor’s degree with a Physics major or must be state certified (in any state) to teach Physics at a secondary school level.
  • An undergraduate GPA of 2.75 or higher from the baccalaureate degree granting institution at which at least of minimum of 30 hours was completed.

Completion Requirements
  • Successful completion of the Graduate Certificate in Physics curriculum.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above in all graduate work and a minimum grade of “B-” in each course.
  • Payment of all tuition and fees is required to receive a certificate.

 

Course Transfer Policy

Students may transfer in one graduate-level Physics course, which equates to PHYS-501 “Mathematical Methods for Physics” with a minimum grade of “B-.”
