Our Graduate Certificate in Physics a series of six three-hour graduate courses designed for those seeking the credentials required to teach collegiate courses; it can be completed in approximately 12 months. Upon completion of this program, you’ll have a broad understanding of the field, stronger physics knowledge, deeper critical thinking skills, and advanced mathematical modeling and quantitative skills in fundamental domains – all within a biblical worldview.
Courses are designed to equip students with methods and materials they need to deepen their teaching ability and help their own students learn. This program builds in ideas for culturally responsive teaching, ethics and faith, and research and technology tools. IWU’s student-centric approach also provides:

Note: Candidates must already be credentialed for teaching physics in P-12 schools and/or community colleges, as this certificate will not lead to initial or advanced state licensure in those areas.

TUITION

Applicable fees for resources and services will be assessed throughout the program. Tuition and fees for prerequisites and required elective courses are in addition to the charges shown on the program cost sheet. Your tuition rate will remain the same as long as you remain continuously enrolled in the same program. REQUIREMENTS

- A baccalaureate or graduate degree from a college or university that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) verified on original transcripts sent by the institution directly to Indiana Wesleyan University.
- A bachelor’s degree with a Physics major or must be state certified (in any state) to teach Physics at a secondary school level.
- An undergraduate GPA of 2.75 or higher from the baccalaureate degree granting institution at which at least of minimum of 30 hours was completed.

Completion Requirements
- Successful completion of the Graduate Certificate in Physics curriculum.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above in all graduate work and a minimum grade of “B-” in each course.
- Payment of all tuition and fees is required to receive a certificate.
Course Transfer Policy
Students may transfer in one graduate-level Physics course, which equates to PHYS-501 “Mathematical Methods for Physics” with a minimum grade of “B-.”
