Overview of the Graduate Certificate in Biology Online Program

In addition to qualifying to teach undergraduate general education and elective biology courses, secondary school teachers may also become qualified to instruct advanced placement, dual enrollment, or early college courses.

This graduate certificate provides a broad understanding of the field of biology, while strengthening biological communication and analysis. As this course set is taught in a Christian environment, it is designed to nurture Christian faith and understanding.

The program can be completed in 12 months with continuous enrollment. There are no course by course graduate level prerequisites. Selected courses may be taken with permission. The certificate meets the requirements of the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) to teach undergraduate-level courses in biology.

Prerequisite: Undergraduate courses in Introductory Biology, Introductory Biology Lab, General Chemistry, General Chemistry Lab.

Note: The prerequisites are included to help students understand the starting point on which these program courses are designed.
