It offers full-time, paid summer research positions under the direct guidance of IWU faculty, giving pre-med students the kind of hands-on lab experience that sets graduate and medical school applications apart. Students have co-authored papers on neural transmission, bacterial genomics, HIV, and more, and have presented findings at local, regional, and national conferences.
IWU students gain real clinical exposure through internship placements at healthcare institutions including Marion General Hospital, Parkview Health, and Lutheran Health Network, as well as industry partners such as Corteva and BW Fusion. These experiences help students build clinical hours, develop professional relationships, and confirm their path before they apply to professional school.
