Faculty Profile
Dr. Rosemary F. Fromer serves as Professor in Indiana Wesleyan University's Division of Nursing, where she has dedicated over two decades to shaping the next generation of nurse educators and advanced practice nurses. With more than thirty years of nursing experience, primarily in home health and hospice care, she brings authentic clinical wisdom to her teaching practice.
Teaching
Dr. Fromer's teaching portfolio spans prelicensure, post-licensure, and graduate nursing education. She currently instructs courses across multiple graduate programs, including the Master of Science in Nursing Education track and the Doctor of Nursing Practice program. Her courses range from professional development and course design to epidemiology, biostatistics, and evidence-based practice. As a Certified Nurse Educator through the National League for Nursing, she has mentored countless students and served as a coach for adjunct and full-time faculty. Her approach emphasizes practical application of theory, preparing educators who can thoughtfully integrate research, pedagogy, and compassionate care.
Scholarship
Dr. Fromer's research addresses critical issues facing the nursing profession. Her primary interests include burnout, resilience, and turnover intention in long-term care settings, as well as concept-based curriculum development. Her dissertation explored theory-driven evaluation of concept-based nursing curricula, published in Nursing Education Perspectives. Most recently, she has investigated the effects of resilience and burnout on turnover intention among long-term care nurses following COVID-19, presenting her findings at national conferences, including Sigma's Creating Healthy Work Environments conference and the Innovations in Faith-based Nursing Conference. She actively serves as a journal peer reviewer, abstract reviewer, and dissertation committee member, contributing to the broader scholarly conversation in nursing education.
Faith
Dr. Fromer integrates her Christian faith authentically into her academic work and community engagement. She has served in various ministry roles at Antioch Church of the Y and currently participates in a Life Group at Life House Church. Her faith perspective informs her approach to nursing education, particularly in teaching courses that explore nursing from a Christian worldview. She has delivered keynote addresses and blessings at nursing pinning ceremonies, celebrating the sacred calling of nursing practice.
Service
Dr. Fromer's service extends across university, professional, and community spheres. At IWU, she has served on the University Faculty Senate, University Scholarship Council, and numerous division and school committees. Professionally, she serves as Secretary of Sigma Theta Tau International's Eta Chi Chapter and actively participates in the Ohio League for Nursing's Continuing Education Committee. Her community service reflects diverse interests: she served six years on the Board of Trustees for Ohio Living Quaker Heights and volunteers extensively as an Ohio State University Extension Master Gardener, working with students at Little Miami Intermediate School and supporting community gardening initiatives.
Dr. Fromer holds a PhD in Education with a specialization in Nursing Education from Capella University, an MSN in Nursing Administration from Seton Hall University, and a BSN from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She resides in Ohio with her husband and son, where she enjoys cultivating both gardens and future nurse educators.
