Darla Gowan

Biography
Darla Gowan worked for IWU as adjunct and affiliate faculty for 15 years prior to becoming full-time faculty in December 2009. She is currently the Assistant Dean for Nurse Practitioner programs. She grew up on the mission field of Haiti and has spent the majority of her life in the Midwest working in critical care settings and teaching. She has a special love for children undergoing treatment for cancer. Interests outside of academia include music, reading and traveling.
Interests
- Very interested in the effects of pain on recovery and how children and their caregivers perceive pain.
- Care of the adolescent patient
- Mentoring and succession planning in academia
