Biography
Throughout her career, Professor Susan Sigworth has worked in essentially two capacities: as a professor and a practitioner. She’s taught in four universities and served as an award-winning marketing professional in advertising agencies and corporate settings, as well as run her own communications consulting business for 10 years.
At Indiana Wesleyan University, she teaches public relations, strategic communication
Professor Sigworth holds the Accredited Business Communicator designation from the International Association of Business Communicators.
Why did you decide to teach at IWU?
I was attracted to the IWU strategic communication position for three reasons. First, I believe in Christian higher education. Attending a Christian college changed my life, and I want to make it possible for students to receive the exceptional whole-person education I did.
Second, the name of the program itself – “strategic communications” – excites me. I feel IWU is more on the cutting edge when it comes to preparing students and responding to market needs in this growing area.
Finally, mentoring and teaching are my passions. I find tremendous joy in helping students grow and reach their goals.
Hobbies:
Being outside, cooking, and spending time with family and friends
Advice for a prospective student:
Get ready—the next four years are going to be some of the most amazing years of your life. Take advantage of the many opportunities on campus to learn, serve, travel and grow. In addition, consider building relationships with your professors outside the classroom. Stop by their office to chat. Have coffee or lunch with them. They want to be part of your life and enjoy getting to know you!
