Social Work professionals are employed in multiple social service agencies, working with a wide variety of vulnerable populations.
The mission of the Indiana Wesleyan University Social Work major is to prepare students for social work practice through the teaching of the knowledge, values, and skills that equip them to be change agents advocating for the dignity and worth of all people and respect for human diversity. The Social Work program develops world changers by instructing students to utilize scientific inquiry, to integrate worldview, faith, and learning into active service that promotes social justice and growth for individuals, families, groups, communities, and organizations.
We believe that people are impacted by their environment. Our students gain first-hand knowledge regarding individuals, families, groups, communities, and organizations in order to better understand this impact. Graduates will be prepared for entry-level social work practice through a variety of classroom, volunteer, and practicum experiences.
Students may choose to minor in Sociology as a supplement to this IWU major.
Our program has been accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) for over 25 years.
In accordance with CSWE standard 4.0.4, all accredited social work programs are required to provide program assessment data based on the 2015 EPAS competencies. The following link is Indiana Wesleyan University's BSW's most recent assessment form: IWU BSW Assessment.
