Marion, Ind. (Nov. 2, 2026) — Wesley Seminary at Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) has received approval to enter a formal ministry partnership with the Global Methodist Church (GMC). This full six-year term will see closer collaboration with GMC in forming new pastors and other missional initiatives.

“The Global Methodist Church’s zeal for holiness, commitment to the gospel, and heart for ministry are gifts to the church, and we are grateful to serve alongside its leaders,” said Rev. Yamil Acevedo, Ph.D., executive vice president of Wesley Seminary. “This six-year approval affirms a partnership rooted in our shared Wesleyan heritage and a common desire to see people and communities transformed by God’s grace. Together, we hope to form pastors and future clergy to lead as scholar-practitioners with theological wisdom, pastoral compassion, and a deep dependence on the Holy Spirit.”

This six-year approval opens a new chapter for the seminary’s partnership with the GMC and creates more opportunities for Wesley Seminary to serve its pastors, leaders, congregations, and future clergy.

“As a GMC deacon and a Wesley Seminary professor, I’m delighted by this full-term approval. Both intuitions share a global mission to make disciples and prepare leaders who spread scriptural holiness,” said Richie Clark, Ph.D., assistant professor of systematic theology & Christian ethics. “Wesley Seminary, like the GMC, is committed to historic Christian orthodoxy, biblical fidelity, and an optimistic vision of holiness, and it is a joy to help form my denomination’s next leaders.”

The fit between the two institutions is evident in their mission statements, elaborated Clark. The GMC “exists to make disciples of Jesus Christ and spread scriptural holiness across the globe,” while Wesley Seminary prepares “Christian leaders to engage in missional ministry locally and globally.” Each mission is global in scope and oriented toward the Great Commission.
