Marion, Ind., (Oct. 2, 2026) — Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) will launch a new 90-credit, online Bachelor of Science in Justice Leadership & Public Safety on April 14, 2026, broadening the university’s commitment to develop leaders who serve with integrity, courage, and Christ-centered purpose.
The 90-credit, fully online degree is designed for working professionals seeking advancement in law enforcement, corrections, emergency management, and related public safety roles. The accelerated program blends leadership development with applied public safety practices and Christian ethics to prepare students for administrative and supervisory positions across justice-related fields.
“Today’s justice and public safety professionals face increasingly complex situations requiring high-stakes decision-making that often leads to public scrutiny,” said [program representative]. “This program was built to help leaders navigate those pressures with competence and moral courage, preparing them to lead teams, strengthen organizations, and serve their communities with integrity and ethical clarity rooted in Christlike resolve.”
IWU developed the program to meet the needs of students who are already serving in high-responsibility environments, including mid-career professionals and first responders, as well as active-duty military and veterans transitioning into civilian public safety careers. The degree is also structured as a bachelor’s completion option for students with prior college credit or an associate degree.
Students in the program will learn to integrate Christian ethics and professional standards into justice leadership, apply leadership and management practices in public safety settings, and analyze nuanced challenges with informed decision-making. Coursework also focuses on legal, organizational, and policy frameworks that shape justice systems, helping students move from operational roles into strategic leadership.
The program reflects IWU’s longstanding emphasis on Christ-centered education, practical faculty experience, and support for working adults. Courses are delivered in five-week sessions, allowing students to take one course at a time while maintaining work and family responsibilities.
