Indianapolis, Ind. (Jul. 1, 2026) — Three Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) alumni have published “Virtuous Business: A Model Approach,” a new book centered on the DeVoe School of Business, Technology and Leadership’s Virtuous Business Model (VBM).
The publication is co-authored by:
Drawing from academic research and real-world leadership experience, DuFore, Philpott, and Slaughter build on the VBM to help leaders shape organizational culture and people development for long-term impact.
The book, which features a foreword by Jerry Pattengale, Ph.D., distinguished IWU professor and administrator, offers essays, real-world examples, and more than 300 reflection questions. Through these resources, the authors aim to provide leaders with practical tools to apply virtuous leadership principles in everyday business contexts.
“Our hope is that this serves as an extension of the DeVoe mission,” DuFore said, “equipping leaders with a practical framework for integrating virtue into both their leadership and their organizations, while also sparking meaningful conversations about what it truly means to lead well.”
The publication reflects IWU’s commitment to preparing business leaders who integrate Christian faith and practical excellence to lead with integrity.
