Continue the journey beyond FUSION through events and ministry opportunities that deepen faith and develop leadership.
FUSION 2026 was marked by powerful moments of transformation, meaningful engagement, and significant institutional impact. While the accompanying photos offer a glimpse into the experience, they only begin to reflect the depth of what took place.
One defining moment continues to resonate deeply with both students and leaders. Late Saturday afternoon, hundreds of high school students responded to a call to surrender the barriers preventing them from fully embracing their relationship with Christ. One by one, they approached the cross, placing handwritten burdens into water, and watched them dissolve, symbolizing release and renewal. In exchange, each student received a small glass jar with a handwritten promise that Christ will never leave nor forsake them. It was a profound expression of spiritual commitment and identity.
The response from attending pastors and leaders has been overwhelmingly positive. One pastor shared in a text: “Many of my students won’t consider schools outside of New York because if they attend somewhere in state, their tuition is covered. I brought them to FUSION with the hopes of showing them what a Christ-centered community can look like. Without FUSION conference, they would have had no reason to visit IWU. But, now that they’ve gone, I have a couple students considering IWU as a serious option! Fusion is what convinced me to become a student at IWU, and it’s the reason my kids are considering it. They can’t wait to come back!”
From an institutional perspective, the outcomes were equally significant:

FUSION is a powerful demonstration of campus and regional engagement, but its impact continues to build into a full-year ecosystem of student-led ministry programming.
Pre-registrations are strong, and we are on pace to reach 800 participants (consistent with previous years). Both FUSION and Never2Young remain highly influential in prospective students’ decisions to attend IWU.
In June, six ministry teams will be deployed to serve at 45 youth camps, engaging approximately 17,000 middle and high school students. These teams provide relational, life-on-life ministry through roles such as worship leaders, counselors, and altar ministers. This hands-on discipleship model remains central to the mission of Youth Ministry Events.
This summer marks the launch of a new collaboration between Examen Camp and the Wildcat Academy. Examen Camp remains the only IWU summer program, and the only Lilly Endowment–initiated program, that offers college credit upon completion. It continues to serve as a strong pipeline into the School of Theology and Ministry, as well as other academic programs.
IWU currently stands alone among Wesleyan institutions and within the CCCU in offering this level of integrated, student-led ministry programming — both on campus through FUSION and Never2Young, and in summer outreach through ministry teams.
Together, these initiatives reflect a comprehensive strategy that integrates spiritual formation, leadership development, and enrollment impact. The consistent thread across all efforts is relational ministry students ministering to students, which continues to be the heartbeat of Youth Ministry Events at IWU.
