Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) will host the Freedom 250 Mobile Museum from March 19-21 on its Marion campus, offering a free, immersive traveling museum experience that celebrates 250 years of American history. IWU is currently the only Indiana location scheduled to host the Freedom 250 Mobile Museum Tour.
The exhibit will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily in the university’s Tailgate Village parking lot near Wildcat Stadium. No tickets or reservations are required.
The Freedom 250 Mobile Museum is part of a nationwide tour commemorating the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States. The exhibit travels in a custom-designed 80-foot tractor-trailer with expandable slide-outs that create walk-through exhibitions, bringing museum-quality storytelling and interactive historical displays directly to communities across the country.
Funded through a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the traveling exhibit is designed to reach Americans of all ages, with a special emphasis on engaging school and college-aged students through interactive content about American history, culture and civic ideals.
“Hosting the Freedom 250 Mobile Museum gives our campus and community a unique opportunity to experience American history in an engaging and accessible way,” said Jon Kulaga, Ph.D., IWU’s president. “We are excited to welcome local schools, families, and community members to campus for this special national celebration.”
The mobile museum highlights key moments in American history, cultural milestones and the enduring ideals of freedom, innovation and civic identity. A fleet of six traveling museum trucks is touring communities across the United States through 2026 as part of the national commemoration of America’s 250th anniversary.
IWU is encouraging local schools, districts and community organizations across Grant County and surrounding regions to bring students and families to campus during the exhibit’s three-day stay.
In addition to the museum experience, IWU plans to invite food trucks to the area during the event.
