Through a scrupulous, multi-stage selection process, Orr Fellows are chosen to serve as full-time, salaried employees with dynamic host companies across Indianapolis for two years in a variety of high-impact roles. In addition to their professional placements, Fellows participate in premier programming designed to foster introspection, leadership growth, business acumen, philanthropic engagement, and entrepreneurial spirit. Selection reflects not only academic achievement, but also demonstrated leadership potential, adaptability, and a commitment to meaningful professional contribution.
“The selection process for Orr Fellowship is rigorous, nerve-wracking, and exciting,” said Orr Fellow Alexis Sutton. “Going through multiple stages of interviews and events can be challenging when you don’t know what the future holds. Throughout this process, I learned to trust myself and be confident in my experience and abilities. I’m grateful to be a part of this organization and to my company for taking a chance on me."
Orr Fellow Mitch Gunn reflected on the professional and community impact of the program. "The Fellowship’s emphasis on community, commitment, career, and continued learning reflects exactly what I value as a young professional ready to work hard and grow in a new field. Being selected is both an honor and a responsibility, and I’m most excited about the relationships and knowledge I’ll gain along the way."
The selection of these seven students underscores IWU’s commitment to preparing graduates for influential careers marked by purpose, excellence, and leadership. Through an emphasis on character formation, Christ-centered scholarship, real-world experience, and strong partnerships with employers, IWU equips students to step confidently into competitive opportunities, like the Orr Fellowship, ready to contribute immediately and lead effectively in today’s workforce.
