MARION, Ind. — Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) announced it has selected Sodexo Campus as its new dining services partner following a comprehensive and competitive request for proposals process. Sodexo Campus will officially begin serving the university in May 2026 and will be fully operational and ready to serve students for the fall 2026 academic year.
The selection concludes several months of evaluation that included committee review, financial analysis, campus visits, and on-campus presentations from multiple national dining organizations. University leaders said Sodexo Campus demonstrated the strongest alignment with IWU’s mission and long-term vision for an exceptional student experience.
“At IWU, we believe high-impact hospitality means creating environments where people feel genuinely welcomed, cared for, and supported in ways that reflect who we are as an unapologetically Christ-centered institution,” said Jon Kulaga, Ph.D., president of IWU. “Dining is a daily touchpoint for our students, and this partnership with Sodexo Campus allows us to deliver a dining experience that supports the whole student while fostering community, belonging, and excellence across campus life.”
Sodexo Campus was selected based on several key factors, including its student-centered dining vision, which expands menu variety, enhances healthy and allergen-friendly options, and introduces modern, flexible meal plans. The company also demonstrated a strong commitment to community and service-oriented programming, student employment opportunities, and a hospitality approach aligned with IWU’s Christ-centered identity.
“In every phase of the process, Sodexo Campus distinguished itself through thoughtful planning, strong financial stewardship, and a genuine understanding of what matters most to our campus community,” said Keith Brakel, assistant vice president for auxiliary services at IWU. “They listened carefully to feedback from students, faculty, and staff and presented a clear, achievable vision for dining that reflects our commitment to high-impact hospitality and student success.”
Sodexo Campus also outlined plans for investment in dining facilities and technology, including updated spaces, improved service flow, and digital tools designed to make dining more convenient and engaging. The company brings extensive experience in higher education dining, with a proven track record of innovation and partnership at peer institutions.
IWU and Sodexo Campus will work closely in the coming months to ensure a smooth transition. Students, faculty, and staff can expect continued communication about upcoming changes, including an open presentation for the campus community scheduled for the evening of Thursday, Jan. 29.
The transition will include a phased rollout of facility improvements and service enhancements, along with intentional programming designed to foster connection, belonging, and student success through inviting dining spaces and diverse offerings.
University leaders also expressed appreciation to the campus community for its involvement throughout the selection process. Approximately 200 students, faculty, and staff participated in surveys, forums, and tasting events that helped inform the final decision.
“We are grateful to everyone who shared their time and perspectives throughout this process,” Brakel said. “Their feedback was essential in shaping a dining program that reflects the needs and aspirations of our campus.”
IWU looks forward to welcoming Sodexo Campus as its new dining services partner and to the enhancements ahead for the campus dining experience.
