Marion, Ind. (Nov. 7, 2025) – Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) will host the Court of Appeals of Indiana for its Appeals on Wheels program on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2025, at 11 a.m. in the Phillippe Performing Arts Center on the Marion campus.
Appeals on Wheels brings live oral arguments to communities and campuses across Indiana to help Hoosiers learn about the judiciary’s role in state government. The program also allows judges to meet and talk with citizens in informal settings that promote civic engagement and transparency.
A 20-minute audience question-and-answer session with the judges and attorneys will follow the arguments. Doors will open at 10 a.m. The event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited and RSVPs are encouraged.
“This event gives our students and community members a rare opportunity to see state government in action,” said Shawn Matter, university counsel and assistant professor of business at IWU. “We are honored to host the Court of Appeals of Indiana and grateful to offer this educational experience that aligns with IWU’s mission to prepare Christ-centered leaders who engage meaningfully in civic life.”
The Court of Appeals has held more than 700 Appeals on Wheels sessions since 2001, visiting schools, universities, and civic organizations across all 92 Indiana counties.
