Faculty Profile
Dr. Tripp received his bachelor’s degrees in both Biology and Chemistry from Indiana Wesleyan University. He went on to receive a Doctorate in Chemistry from Purdue University, investigating optical and magnetic properties of self-assembled nanoparticle structures under the guidance of Dr. Alexander Wei. Before coming back to teach at Indiana Wesleyan University, he also completed post-doctoral research with Dr. Ron Reifenberger (Physics, Purdue University) and with Dr. Lynne Taylor (Industrial and Molecular Pharmaceutics, Purdue University) developing microcantilever-based chemical sensing techniques and studying pharmaceutical degradation kinetics, respectively.
INTERESTS
Dr. Tripp joined Indiana Wesleyan University in 2007. His current research focuses on chemical education, specifically centered on two goals: 1) Developing cost-effective solutions to improve student access to chemical analysis instrumentation in the teaching laboratory. 2) Using 3D printed models and instrumentation to help engage students in how instrumentation works beyond the data that it provides.
