Dr. Martha Hawkins DNP has been a nurse since 1989. She began her career with an ADN from Somerset Community College in Somerset, Kentucky. In 2002, She completed her BSN and MSN as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in an RN-MSN bridge program at the University of Kentucky. In 2010, She completed her DNP in the inaugural class of Vanderbilt University’s DNP program. She has been teaching nursing since 2010 and, ultimately, wants to be involved in starting a nursing school in Northern Belize. She is currently an Professor in THE Graduate Nursing division of Indiana Wesleyan University's School of Integrated Health.

Dr. Hawkins is married to Patrick. They live on a multi-generational farm in Central Kentucky where she gets to enjoy watching her grandson, Cooper grow up. She is actively involved in medical mission teams and has been privileged to work with healthcare professionals all over the world. As part of her work with medical mission teams, she has been involved in using short-term mission teams as educational opportunities for nursing students. Additionally, her medical team is currently partnering with South Sudanese physicians to start a clinic in Kapoeta, South Sudan.
