Dr. Barnes (Meg) has worked in hospital, nursing home, and home care settings, caring for patients in ICU, ER, OB/GYN, medical-surgical units, and pediatrics. She has also served as a staff educator and as a supervisor in all three settings. Meg left full-time clinical practice in June 2009 to become an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing's Post-licensure Nursing Division for IWU. She volunteers at a homeless clinic in Covington, Kentucky.

INTERESTS

Meg evaluated the effectiveness of adding service-learning to a post-licensure course as the focus for her DNP project. Currently, she is leading a research team investigating lasting effects of service-learning.

Meg also enjoys teaching about various nursing theories and about how these theories have improved nursing practice.
