Faculty Profile
Eddy Shigley is an Associate Professor at Indiana Wesleyan University. His focus is on Practical Theology. With almost 40 years of ministry experience, Eddy loves to help students move from theory to practice, from book knowledge to practical experiences in the church. Eddy’s professional mission is to mentor, train, and equip the next generation of pastors; as well as coach and encourage this generation of pastors. Eddy was the Director of the Kern Ministry Program at Indiana Wesleyan University for 12 years. During that time, IWU graduated over 300 students from the Kern Program and into the local church as pastors.
Eddy was the Men’s and Women's Tennis Coach at Indiana Wesleyan University. He retired as the tennis coach in June 2022. He coached the women’s team for 8 years and the men’s team for 5 years. Both teams were among the most respected tennis programs in the NAIA. He led the women’s program to a historical high #3 ranking in the nation in 2022. Under Coach Shigley’s leadership the men’s tennis team went from not being ranked to a powerhouse program. They finished the 2022 season as the #2 ranked team in the NAIA. The Men’s tennis team set a record for most wins in a season in the history of college tennis with 41 wins in 2022. The Women’s tennis team tied the record for all time wins in a season for any women’s team with 39 wins in 2022. Coach Shigley was named the ITA NAIA Women’s Coach of the Year in 2021 and the ITA NAIA Men’s Coach of the Year in 2022. He has coached 33 NAIA All-Americans and 29 ITA All-Americans.
Eddy is the founder and President of Doulos Leadership Group, Inc. Doulos Leadership is a speaking, consulting, and coaching ministry to Christian organizations. Since its inception in 2007, Doulos Leadership has had the privilege of serving some of the foremost pastors, churches, camps, and para-church organizations in the country. Doulos has designed two national programs. The Crucible is a men’s movement encouraging men to pursue Godliness, integrity, courage, humility, and servant leadership. The Young Leaders Network is a network for young ministry leaders to support them in long term pastoral flourishing through leadership development, coaching for ministry effectiveness, pastoral friendship, and healthy family life.
Eddy has been in ministry full-time since 1987 in various churches, camps, and Christian Universities. He has had the privilege of speaking at a variety of churches, conferences, camps, universities, retreats, revival meetings, and conventions in the United States and around the world. Eddy is committed to proclaiming the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, to motivate and challenge all people to submit their lives to the Lordship of Christ, and to train and develop leaders to impact the world for the Kingdom of God.
Eddy is happily married to Esther since 1989. God has blessed them with seven children, born 1993-2002. They are really loving being Grandparents to some amazing grandchildren. Eddy and Esther speak at marriage and parenting conferences around the world.
