Christopher Lagoni, Ph.D.; M.S.

Dr. Christopher Lagoni serves as Vocational Director and Associate Professor at Indiana Wesleyan University, bringing more than three decades of experience in education, educational leadership, and career and technical education. His career has included service as a classroom teacher, alternative school director, assistant principal, elementary and middle school principal, high school vice principal, and superintendent. From 2012–2016, he served as Superintendent of Carroll Consolidated School Corporation and was involved in the leadership of the Indian Trails Career Cooperative vocational CTE district. He joined Indiana Wesleyan University in 2016 and transitioned into his current role as Vocational Director in 2025.

Dr. Lagoni earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Indianapolis, a Master of Science in School Administration from Butler University, and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from Purdue University. His research interests include public tax policy, property taxes, school funding, operational efficiency, and the costs associated with producing graduates. More recently, he has expanded his professional training into networking, robotics, automation, electrical systems, HVAC, and electric vehicle technology, reflecting his growing focus on career and technical education and workforce preparation. His professional contributions have been recognized through several honors, including being named the 2008 IASP District 5 Middle School Principal of the Year and receiving the 2022 Distinguished Service Award from the Indiana Association of School Superintendents.

In addition to his work at Indiana Wesleyan University, Dr. Lagoni has maintained a strong commitment to rural education and community service. He has served as Executive Director of the Indiana Small and Rural Schools Association and is President-Elect of the National Rural Education Association. His leadership and service have also included involvement with statewide initiatives focused on rural affairs, broadband access, and digital equity. A longtime Indiana resident, Dr. Lagoni lives in Kokomo with his wife, Alyssa, and is the father of three daughters. Outside of his professional work, he enjoys building and restoring classic cars and serves as a mechanic with Godsend Garage in Kokomo.
