Chris Williams

Associate Professor

Division of Mathematics, Engineering and Computer Science

Ph.D.; MS; BS

Chris Williams is an Associate Professor of Civil Engineering in the Division of Mathematics, Engineering and Computer Science. He earned a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Williams' technical interests are centered on structural engineering, with specific focus on the design and behavior of reinforced and prestressed concrete structures. He has authored several publications in these areas and has led research projects funded by federal, state, and industry sources.

Dr. Williams endeavors to bring practical instruction to the classroom as he teaches the next generation of engineers. His teaching experience at IWU includes the following courses: Reinforced Concrete Design, Structural Steel Design, Structural Analysis, Mechanics of Materials, Solid Mechanics, Dynamics, Geomatics Engineering, Computer Aided Design, and Senior Design Project.
