Faculty Profile

Joseph Snider

Assistant Professor

My Background

I received a BS in Mathematics from Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois. Illinois College is a small liberal arts college, providing a well-rounded education and foundation for life-long learning. I received an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University and was in the fifth class to graduate from the adult education program. I received my D.B.A. in Management Information Systems in 2011. My dissertation topic was improving online education by combining proven techniques together for a Business Statistics course.

This is my 30th year in Information Technology, mostly in application development and project management for heavy industrial, fast food, and now health care. Most recently, I am certified in project management with a PMP designation.

My wife and I have two children of college age. We have lived in five different states, settling near Louisville, Kentucky for the last 11 years.

My teaching has been for Indiana Wesleyan University, first in Marion and Indianapolis areas, and now on the ground at the Louisville and Lexington campuses. For the 8 years of teaching, it has been in the mathematics and computer areas.

My Testimony

While I have always been raised Christian and was born again at 18 years of age, my true testimony starts at age 40. This is when I was diagnosed with kidney cancer. During the arduous journey, I learned to receive help from others and not think of it as charity in a bad sense, and gained a church family. When the kidney was removed along with the tumor that was choking it, the doctor said it was the size of a volleyball. Through the power of prayer, I am a cancer survivor and have been cancer-free for over 11 years. Praise the Lord! I have been able to minister to people through conversations about cancer, surgeries people are having, how a church family can help, and just listening.
