Humanities General Education Courses

The following courses have been created for you by IWU’s amazing Humanities faculty members. Their goal in each of them is to help you see and explore God’s world through a new lens, a new way of seeing the world. But it doesn’t end there. Each of these classes will also point you toward new ways we can live out the way of Jesus to love God with all we are and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Each of these will do that uniquely and with joy and passion. So, enjoy the journey!

ENG-180 and HST-180

ENG-180 and HST-180 will no longer be offered beginning Fall 2026.

For any current student who still needs ENG-180 or HST-180, you will choose one of the offerings from each area (ENG & HST) instead.

If you need ENG-180, choose one: ENG-145, ENG-146, -or- ENG-147
If you need HST-180, choose one: HST-142, HST-143, -or- HST-144

*And don’t worry... If you’ve already taken one or more of the 180s, those still count too. These are just for whatever you have left.

MUS-180

For any current student who still needs MUS-180, you may CHOOSE to take one of these new ART courses (ART-141 or ART-147) and one of these new MUS courses (MUS-144, MUS-145, or MUS-146).

The ART & MUS classes are two (2) credit hours each, so you would take TWO, 2-credit hour courses (for four (4) credit hours) to meet your requirement. You’ll love them!

*If, however, you would prefer to take MUS-180 in its 3-credit hour format, that will still be offered for the next few semesters. But don’t wait! Jump in as soon as you can.
