Please join us in celebrating Travis Bannon, our youth worker for the month of October!
Travis received his call into ministry through a process over a year between his junior and senior year of high school. His calling came through going to camp, being involved in his youth group, and an opportunity to help start a youth group at another church. Through all of these experiences, God started gently nudging him along with confirmation people he respected. His life was transformed by those committed to youth ministry and he has always wanted to help be that for someone else. Since then, he has been pursuing his call to ministry yet recognizes the continual call and process that ministry is. He describes how since he became a Christian, his desire has always been to serve teens. Travis says, “I recognize the difference made in my life during this crucial stage and want to try to make a difference in the lives of teens in this stage as well. I’d love to be a “Lifer” in youth ministry, should I be so fortunate.”
Travis has been involved in youth ministry for the last eight years yet only within the last year has he been in a full-time position in a long term role. Some of his favorite highlights of youth ministry is Fusion every year along with watching teens lean into who they really are called to be – worshipping freely, loving deeply, and committing to make a difference.
His favorite Bible passage is John 1:43-51 of Nathanael’s calling.
He enjoys camping and backpacking along with traveling with his wife to places with mountains, sites to see, and lots of hiking.
His favorite sports teams are the Green Bay Packer, New York Yankees, Milwaukee Bucks, West Ham United, and the Detroit Red Wings.
His favorite movie is About Time and his favorite TV show is Psych.
Another fun fact about Travis is that he owns a 1981 VW Campervan with a pop-top and full kitchen interior. His dream is to fix it up and spend some extended time seeing the country in it one day.
