Please join me in celebrating Jenni Fogt, our youth worker for the month of March!
Jenni has been in full time student ministries for close to five years. Before that she served part time in various volunteer roles within student ministries.
She was a senior in high school when she discovered her call to ministry. It was with her dad late one evening that he mentioned the idea of working in a church and from that moment everything made sense to her and she knew this was what she was meant to do.
Before she had even thought about youth ministry, she always had a passion for making a difference in the lives of adolescents. She expresses how there are so many changes students go through during those years including the shift from concrete to abstract thought.
A highlight for Jenni was last summer when she had the opportunity to lead her first international mission trip. The church that she was serving with that week was a Spanish speaking congregation. During one of the worship services, they sang a song that she had not heard since she was on her first ever mission trip her freshman year of high school. She said that she could see the lines that God had drawn, connecting so many dots in her life. This caused her to be overwhelmed with gratitude and joy. Another highlight for her is planning and leading events. She says that for the last three years she has been on the design team for a camp/retreat ministry for the churches in the Western NC Conference of the United Methodist Church area.
Her favorite verse is Galatians 3:26-29
Her favorite hobbies are watching Netflix, playing board games, and drinking coffee. She also says that her dogs usually take up a lot of her free time yet when she does have free time, she loves to build objects including a new bed frame that she is currently working on.
Her favorite movie is the Princess Bride and the best movie that she has seen most recently is the movie On the Basis of Sex. Her favorite TV shows are The Great British Baking Show, Downtown Abbey, and Dr. Who.
Another fun fact about Jenni is that she came to Indiana Wesleyan University with intentions to graduate and move back to her home town yet, God had other plans which has given her the opportunity to live in four different states including; Ohio, Indiana, South Carolina, and North Carolina.
