Please join us in celebrating Angela Amerine, our youth worker for the month of November!
Angela has been working in youth ministry for almost 10 years, receiving her call to ministry when she was studying Elementary Education at Spring Arbor University. She knew that she was not called to teaching in a school and felt that her gifts and passions clearly lined up with full time ministry. She had many people around her affirm her calling and speak truth into her.
She did not feel initially that her call was for youth ministry. She loves telling the story of how she was “tricked” into serving as a youth pastor. “I was applying for a job where I would be a worship pastor. As I delved in the interview process, they asked if I would “help” with the youth ministry…which in the next interview turned into “You would also be the youth pastor”. I was terrified out of my mind! I had no clue what I was doing! So here I am 14 years later STILL serving students! Somewhere along the way I fell in love with student ministry-I love everything about it-I love the creativity, the mentoring, the unexpected, the change of culture which causes me to depend fully on Christ, the life change, and allowing students to just be who they are and trying to let them know how incredibly much God loves them.”
Some of her favorite youth ministry moments and the mentoring relationships that result in mutual life change. In addition, the moments when students puts her stapler in jell-o (see picture).
Favorite Bible verse is Romans 12:1-2
She loves working out and going on trips with her extended family a few times a year.
She loves Parks and Rec, and Psych
She is Canadian and her favorite team is the Saskatchewan Roughriders
She taught herself how to play guitar in college.
Has two children: Caden, 7. And Callia, 5. Married to Jared who is also in fulltime ministry with Never The Same. They love to test out new youth ministry games at home with their family and friends!
