Journey Toward Ordination
Perhaps you know you want to become an ordained pastor in the church, but are unsure how you can meet the ordination requirements while pursuing your call to a specific type of ministry.
The Pastoral Ministries Double Major includes the courses that meet ordination requirements within the Wesleyan Church and some other denominations, while seamlessly pairing with a specific ministry major of your choice. This allows you to take pastoral ministry courses that your primary ministry major may not require, including Ministry in Context, Local Church Education, Worship, Homiletics, Pastoral Care & Counseling, Church Rituals, and additional Bible & Theology courses
The Pastoral Ministries Double Major pairs with the following ministry majors:
- Youth Ministries
- Children’s Ministries
- Christian Education
- Global Ministries
- Community Development
- Worship Ministries
Furthermore, all students in one of the above majors + Pastoral Ministries are eligible to participate in the Kern Mentoring Program
*Note: The Christian Ministries major already includes the above courses for ordination.
