PREPARING TO SERVE CHILDREN IN THE CHURCH - AND BEYOND

Indiana Wesleyan University's Bachelor of Science with a major in Children's Ministries degree will prepare you to serve in a church staff position such as director of children's ministries and in various para-church organizations that serve the needs of children. We have an excellent placement record for our graduates in full-time positions in churches and other organizations. Some of our graduates serve in church-related schools, Christian camps, and with mission agencies in the United States and around the globe. Many students double major in Christian Education, Intercultural Studies, or another area of study to augment their training. If you are interested in the children's ministry of the church, then this major is for you.

The IWU Children's Ministry program will launch you into a life of world-changing service, providing experiential learning opportunities with a specific focus on practical ministry theory as well as skills.

CHILDREN'S MINISTRIES MINOR

A minor in Children's Ministries consists of 19 credit hours of carefully selected courses to enable you to augment your major degree with a solid foundation in children's ministry. If you add a Children's Ministry minor to another ministry major, this may qualify you to serve in the area of children's ministry as well as in your major area of ministry studies.

Some students also choose to earn an Associate of Science degree in Children's Ministries (a two-year degree) for quick entry into the workforce and a foundation for further education.

Path to Ordination

Pair this major with the Pastoral Ministries double major to be eligible for ordination within the Wesleyan Church and some other denominations.

Faculty

The Children's Ministries program in the School of Theology and Ministry at Indiana Wesleyan University is designed to prepare you for work as a director of children's ministries in a local church or to serve in various para-church organizations which serve the needs of children such as church-related schools, Christian camps, and mission agencies. The faculty is experienced and innovative. All faculty members who teach courses in this major have extensive practical ministry experience as well as graduate degrees in their areas of expertise. Their education and experience will give you a great deal of local church, practical, and experiential learning in combination with foundational classroom theory.
