PREPARING TO MINISTER IN A DIVERSE WORLD

Technological advances are shrinking our world. People and cultures that were once widely separated by geography are now in direct communication and only minutes or hours apart, making the world a more complex and challenging place to live, work, and minister.

Indiana Wesleyan University's Bachelor of Arts with a major in Global Ministries degree will equip students to serve in cross-cultural ministry at home and abroad. The program combines courses in classical religious studies, such as bible, religion, theology, philosophy, history, and missiology, and in intercultural studies with practical courses that are focused on cross-cultural life and service.

Global Ministries is an interdisciplinary program designed to prepare you to serve in cross-cultural professional ministry. For that reason, effective preparation for service in an increasingly global world requires a curriculum designed to promote growth in the following three domains:

  • Cognitive: Knowledge and Understanding
  • Affective: Attitudes, Dispositions and Values
  • Conative: Abilities, Competencies and Skills

GLOBAL MINISTRIES MINOR

The minor in Global Ministries consists of 21 credit hours of courses and is designed for students planning to serve in intentional cross-cultural ministry alongside a chosen major area of study. Students from any of IWU's other majors are welcome, but particularly those who are preparing for cross-cultural church-based Christian ministry.

Path to Ordination

Pair this major with the Pastoral Ministries double major to be eligible for ordination within the Wesleyan Church and some other denominations.

Faculty

The Global Ministries major in the School of Theology and Ministry at IWU is designed to give students real-life experience working in a cross-cultural ministry setting. The faculty consists of highly trained professionals, each with many years of cross-cultural ministry experience. Students have direct access to the faculty and are encouraged to work closely with them on academic studies, research projects, and mission trips.
