The Indiana Wesleyan University Theatre Education program combines theory, history, and practice to prepare teachers for elementary, middle school and high school theatre and dramatic arts programs. As you prepare to be a teacher of the arts, you’ll get to examine the philosophical questions of life, beauty, nature, and faith, and gain a greater understanding of the world around you. We give you the opportunity to learn in an environment that aligns with your moral beliefs and convictions.

Theatre is such a rich area of study. Besides acting, you are going to learn about the vast disciplines encompassed in theatre including directing, playwriting, technical theatre and design, stage and house management, theatre history, and theater administration. You will participate in IWU's plays as a performer, technician, running crew, or designer.

An emphasis in teacher education courses will equip you with the background you need to confidently teach and instruct your own students in theatre disciplines. We firmly believe that this field can be much more than a pastime; it's a calling to honor the arts and share with others the beauty in the world around us.

If you are searching for a Christian university to earn your Theatre Education degree in Indiana, we invite you to contact us for more information about this and other education programs.
