  • TESOL Education

The Indiana Wesleyan University Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) program is designed for students who love languages and have a heart and desire to teach the English language to non-native speakers. The program is also designed to meet Indiana English as a New Language standards, and the standards of TESOL International Association.

A degree in TESOL Education combines professional training with specialized instruction in the latest theoretical foundations for second-language acquisition, including methods and materials training and practicum experience designed specifically for the TESOL student. Coursework and field experiences will allow you to combine theory and practice as you expand your abilities and develop your God-given gift of teaching. Graduates are well-prepared with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to be effective educators who make a difference in the lives of their students and colleagues.

Our students are mentored by experienced faculty who demonstrate the integration of a Christian worldview in the vocation of teaching, showing that a career can be a way to authentically worship God and serve humankind. IWU's TESOL Education program equips graduates to change the world in a tangible way. Worldwide, teachers of English are in high demand, so this major is both practical and fulfilling.
