Students work closely with one another and with our faculty to analyze and tackle real-world challenges. This approach means your learning will be relevant to contemporary problems and will happen in relationship with a vibrant community.

We also believe that God's character can be seen in his creation; thus, we help our students recognize that the study of patterns, structure, algorithms, and logic can reveal aspects of the character of God.  Our faculty work closely with students not only to cultivate the intellectual and technical skills needed for future employment but also to see each student leave with greater wisdom and a deeper faith.

The career opportunities for graduates in mathematics is extremely strong and are accompanied by very strong salaries, even for entry-level positions. Here are a few examples of how some of our alumni are using their skills to make the world a better place:

  • Caryn earned a master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University and is a bioinformatics scientist at the University of North Carolina

The world is lost and hurting, and the message of Jesus brings life. For 100 years, the School of Theology and Ministry at IWU has been preparing exceptional men and women for kingdom ministry. Our faculty and staff passionately believe that God is calling a new generation of pastors, ministers, and theologians to rise up and fulfill the Great Commission.

Opportunities & Outcomes

Students in the School of Theology and Ministry engage in a number of transformational opportunities to discover, develop, and deploy into their call to ministry, including opportunities to: 

  • Gain critical ministry skills, perspectives, and wisdom through well-developed academic programs, including 17 majors, 17 minors, 4 graduate degrees, and multiple ordination pathways.
  • Plan and lead youth ministry events affecting more than 10,000 lives each year such as Fusion, Never2Young, and Summer Ministry Teams.
  • Jump onto the 3+2 accelerated degree track, earning one of many of our bachelor’s degrees in just 3 years and a Master’s of Practical Theology in just 2 years (while gaining deep ministry experience and saving money).
  • Participate in the Kern Program, a cohort-style mentoring program to help ministry students grow in Christ and be prepared for effective ministry.
