Social Studies Education (SSE) graduates seek employment as public and private school teachers, grades 5 through 12. Some division alumni have taught in international settings, including South Korea, China and Puerto Rico.
All of our division programs provide excellent preparation for careers in the public sector and for graduate school. Recent graduates have been employed by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, the Indiana Family Institute, the Office of Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels, and the Indiana State Senate. Through our Political Science Practicum program, division majors gain hands-on experience in various political and legal offices while earning academic credit. Placement sites include the Grant County (IN) Prosecutor's Office, the Indiana House and Senate, the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate, and the White House. Several recent graduates have gained employment in part due to these work-study experiences.
