A FORMULA FOR FURTHER STUDIES AND SUCCESS

A Chemistry degree will give you a general background in chemistry and help you develop the skills to pursue further studies in this field, including graduate studies in chemistry or entrance into professional schools such as medicine, dentistry, optometry, pharmacy, or veterinary medicine. You will also be prepared for entry-level positions in chemical research laboratories or environmental control laboratories, and for chemistry teaching positions.

IWU's Bachelor of Science with a major in Chemistry program involves advanced studies in math and physics. You will be prepared for work in a variety of industrial, educational, scientific, and governmental fields. Your studies will enable you to solve complex problems and think things through. These skills are useful for any job! Students may also choose to earn an Associate of Science degree for quick entry into the workforce and a foundation for further education, or to minor in Chemistry as a supplement to another IWU major.

If you plan to seek employment in a chemistry-related field or want to sharpen your analytic and problem-solving skills, then you should consider majoring in Chemistry at Indiana Wesleyan University.

Faculty

The Chemistry faculty at IWU have diverse backgrounds, coming with industrial, government, and even seminary experience. The many years of experience represented by the faculty listed below offer students a variety of viewpoints on how chemistry can be used and why chemistry is important. Active research projects involve everything from the discovery of new antimalarial drugs to development of fiber optics to environmental and forensic chemistry. Research is seen as such a vital part of the education process that all students are required to become involved in at least one of the projects for a part of the time they are at IWU.
