On March 20, 2021, Dr. Jones and several of his students presented at the 136th Annual Indiana Academy of Science Meeting. Typically held at the J.W. Marriott Hotel in Indianapolis, the conference this year was virtual. The meeting was generously supported by Eli Lilly and Company Foundation, the W. K. Kellogg Foundation, Subaru of America, and White River State Park. Over 200 papers, posters, “Hot Topics,” and workshops were presented by science faculty, graduate, and undergraduate students from institutions primarily in Indiana and the surrounding states. The following individuals from Indiana Wesleyan University presented posters in the Cell Biology section of the meeting:
Evan Brown: Rescue of Human Oral Keratinocytes and Gingival Fibroblasts from Zoledronate-Induced Viability Loss: Inroads to Lessening a Bone-Cancer Drug Side Effect
Jessica Binkley: Geranylgeraniol, Not Phosphonoformic Acid, Partially Rescues Human Gingival Fibroblasts From Zoledronate-Induced Death
Alex Cartwright: Endocytosis Inhibition as a Rescue Strategy for Zoledronate-Induced Cell Death
Abigail Conrad: Optimization of a Viability Rescue Assay in Human Oral Keratinocytes
Makayla Standfest: Dynasore, A Dynamin Inhibitor, Prevents Zoledronate-Induced Human Gingival Fibroblast Death
Dr. Dan Jones: SLC20/SLC34 Sodium-Dependent Phosphate Transporter Gene Expression in Human Oral Keratinocytes and Gingival Fibroblasts
