IWU alum Scott Reese named CEO of GE Digital

Jan. 28, 2022

Indiana Wesleyan University alum Scott Reese ’95 ’00 was recently appointed as the new CEO of GE Digital, a subsidiary of General Electric and leading industrial software company. He will officially step into his new role on Feb. 22.

“GE is one of the world's most iconic brands,” said Reese, “so it is an honor to play a role in defining its future.”

As part of his role, Reese will help lead GE Digital’s focus on helping the world transition to cleaner and more affordable energy sources that accelerate decarbonization efforts. The company builds software that makes power-generating assets more efficient, the electric grid more secure and resilient, the aviation industry more sustainable, and helps manufacturers reduce waste.

“The need for cleaner and more affordable energy touches every human on the planet,” said Reese. “The opportunity to deliver that in a way that accelerates our drive for a carbon-neutral world is something that excites me.”

Looking forward, Reese has set two goals for himself: 1) to help the world get its arms around the energy crisis that it faces and 2) to develop the next generation of leaders.

“I was blessed with incredible mentors all of the way through my career,” said Reese. “It is a priority for me to help others achieve their full potential.”

Reese joins GE from Autodesk where he is executive vice president, product development and manufacturing solutions. He joined Autodesk in 2003 and has spent nearly two decades leading product and go-to-market initiatives across a wide range of industries, while driving aggressive growth with next-generation solutions for manufacturing.

Reese graduated from IWU in 1995 with his Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems, and again in 2000 with his Master of Business Administration.

“My years at IWU became the defining years of my life,” said Reese. “IWU gave me a strong foundation of knowledge, skills, faith, and friendships that would prove critical to my growth through the years.”

Reese resides in San Francisco, California, with his wife Shannon (Baker) Reese ’97.
